Before researching this second emerging technology, which I chose as music, I knew a little bit about itunes but very little about garage band. With garage band you can create your own musical recording with your own personal instrument or the instruments that can be provided for you on the software. After your recording is finished you are then able to play back what you recorded and you can either leave it, or edit your notes to what you wanted them to be. After looking at it I didn't actually try it but it seems super easy. When you bring garage band up you click on the button that says "create music project." You then click on the picture of the instrument that you are choosing to use, if it is a piano you click on the keys or if it is a guitar you strum on the strings that are being shown to you on the screen. You push the record and stop button, and that's it, you then play it back. You can also send your personal recordings of your music to itunes if you choose to.

Itunes is something that I'm a little bit more familiar with. It is awesome software that allows you to upload music, buy music, watch movies, podcasts, you name it. What is neat about it is you can move music from your computer, a cd, or your ipod, so that it is all in one place. The first time I used itunes I chose to buy music, and all I had to do was click on the link to the far left column that said "itunes store," and there you can browse for any song of your choice. When I got my ipod my cousin had tons of really cool songs that I wanted so I plugged my ipod into his computer, which meant I had to sync my ipod to his computer, and then it took a few minutes to transfer all of his itunes songs to my ipod.
I love that you chose Garage Band as your topic! I've had it on my computer for years now and have never even opened it. You did a great job explaining what it does and how to use it. I'm also familiar with iTunes but you have a great summary on how to use it!
ReplyDeleteNice blog, I am familiar with itunes as well, but i have never heard of the garage band. Now I know. Good job in explaining what you can do with it and how you do it.
