3rd Emerging Technology: Webcasts

Using youtube is a lot easier than what a lot of people think. Just this last week I had to upload a video of myself playing the piano for my summer music class. I was completely freaked out because I thought to myself I have no idea what I'm doing! So I went over to a friend's house, and he is excellent with computers so I knew he could help me. After I had connected my dvd camcorder to my computer and actually put the video on my computer it was a piece of cake from there. First before you are able to upload any videos or make comments you have to create an account with which you will sign in everytime. It asks you for things like your name, e-mail address, etc. After you get your e-mail confirmation you are able to explore. At the upper right hand corner, after you have signed in, there is an upload button. Sometimes the software to upload the video may not be compatible with your computer, so more times than not you will have to download something so that you can eventually upload your video. After it has been downloaded, you click on the add video button and then select the videos that you want to upload. If the videos are long in length it may take awhile for the video to upload.

With teacher tube, it is almost just like youtube.com but is used for slightly different reasons. People upload videos on teacher tube to teach lessons about books, different subjects, etc. After creating an account you can get on and type in anything that you want to learn about in the search box. Videos will come up, you can use it for personal learning or teachers are able to use this in their classroom, its a different way of learning.
